Creative Visions Marks 15th Anniversary with a Community- Wide Celebration
Creative Visions Human Development Institute was joined by over 150 community members in celebrating its 15th anniversary Sunday July 24, 2011 at the Evelyn Davis Park. The three hour event attracted community members, other community organizations and elected officials.
Guests were treated to games, and music provided by DJ Hollywood and enjoyed hot dogs, chips, popsicles, cake and other treats prepared and served by Creative Visions volunteers and staff.
The highlight of the event was the dunking tank. Guests young and old took turns for nearly two hours at a chance to dunk Creative Visions founder and CEO Ako Abdul- Samad. Ms. Marlene Dolby, the Executive Director of Evelyn Davis Learning Center dunked Ako on her first effort. Lt. Gonzales and other members of the Des Moines Police Department were not as lucky. Ako received a surprise when the guest broke into a happy birthday song to recognize his 60th birthday which was also celebrated during the event.
Creative Visions would like to thank the community for joining them in the celebration and especially members of the Community Ambassadors and the Des Moines Police Department who helped patrol the park during the event. Creative Visions also thanks the numerous volunteers who helped make the event a success.
