To kick off Creative Visions’ 2011 Knowledge is Power Series, Creative Visions is pleased to partner with Moulton Elementary School for a return performance of Harriet Tubman the Chosen One. The one- woman play, performed by critically acclaimed actress Gwendolyn Briley Strand, re-enacts the heroic deeds of abolitionist Harriet Tubman underground railroad efforts to free slaves.
The performance, made possible in part from funding from the Department of Human Services Minority Youth and Family initiative, will take place Wednesday June 30th , 2011 at 6:30 P.M. at Moulton Extnded Learning Center 1541 8th Street.

Creative Visions is honored to partner with the Polk County Iowa Health Department  in helping disseminated information pertaining to the dangers of lead poisoning and assistance in removing lead in the home through   Lead Hazard Control Grant.  Polk County’s efforts to make homes healthy by eliminating environment hazards complements Creative Visions I Am Green  energy efficiency project.

 Creative Visions I Am Green project provides energy conservation resources and information to the same households targeted by Polk County in implementing the Lead Hazard Control grant.  “We believe that this collaboration between Polk County and Creative Visions will allow both entities to maximize our resources to reach more households in helping make them both energy efficient and safe, ” said Creative Visions CEO Ako Abdul- Samad.

 The collaboration consists of joint outreach and publicity to inform the community about the benefits and existence of  both programs and involve disseminating literature and referring households to each respective program.
